Illinois Junior Beef Association  Photography Contest

The Illinois Junior Beef Association is hosting a photography contest in conjunction with the Illinois Beef Expo. The purpose of this contest is to give IJBA members an opportunity to increase their photography skills through creativity behind the lens. 

RULES

1. A panel of qualified judges will critique the entered photographs based on the following guidelines: 

           ^{a.  60% – Photo composition, creativity, uniqueness, and communication power 
           b.  40% – Technical quality, including light exposure, color, sharpness, focus, and cropping}

2. Photographs will be entered and awarded within three (3) age divisions (ages as of Jan. 1 of the current year). Top three (3) photographs in each category within the respective age division will be awarded. 

         ^{a.      Junior: ages 8-13 
            b.      Intermediate: ages 14-17 
            c.      Senior: ages 18-21} 
 

3. Contestants must be current IJBA members. 
 

4. All photographs must be digitally entered through the Photography Contest portal on the Illinois Beef Association website at a resolution of 300 dpi or higher. Photographs must be in a JPEG format at 4x5in, 5x4in, 8x10in or 10x8in. If you have difficulty uploading your photograph, contact Devin Bollman. 

 5. Photographs will be displayed electronically at the Illinois Beef Expo and winning photographs printed as part of the Illinois Beef Expo coverage in Illinois Beef as space allows. 
 

6. Photographs must be taken by the contestant within the past year. Photographs cannot be altered or image-enhanced in any way. 
 

7. Photographs must be entered within two categories: Cattle and Cattlemen. Contestants may enter only one photo per category. A category must be declared at the time of entry, as the photograph should be representative of the contestant’s interpretation of the category. Further explanations of the categories are listed below. 

           ^{a.      Cattlemen: Photographs that show people involved in activities on a farm, ranch or cattle focused livestock event.
           b.      Cattle: Photographs that highlight cattle on the farm, ranch or livestock event. Cattle should remain the dominant focus of the picture.}
